Be Like Him

I got to work in the kitchen as a KD in 2015! The theme for that year was Be Like Him and boy do I continually remember Brighton and try and to be like Him. I was beyond grateful that I got to be a part of camp that year and it has forever left a mark on my heart, even if I was only in the kitchen. I was able to become close to my fellow Kitchen Darlings as well as the head and assistant cook. I also got to work with my sister Roo! It was such a special experience being up there with her because she has always been such an example to me.
I had tons of amazing experiences, from water fights when it was cleaning the kitchen day, singing at the top of our lungs while cooking, to being brownies, to going on hikes with the campers, to serenading campers, to gathering around a campfire to talk about the weeks' tender mercies. The Lord truly does bless us, and it’s amazing at the end of the night, to think back on the day and all the Lord does for us without us realizing it.

I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve up at Brighton. I am especially grateful for the friendships I made. Me, Tangie, Dots, Nala, Sparrow and Odette truly became best friends. We laughed together, cried together, took naps together, grew spiritually together. Because of Brighton, I can say that that summer brought me closer to Heavenly Father, and my testimony grew so much. There is no better place to spend an entire summer, away from distractions of the world, surrounded by beauty.
