PROGRAM DIRECTOR(s):
· Report to Directors · Assist in any area the Directors feel is needed. · Act as Chief Authority in camp in absence of both Directors. · Attend weekly Camp Council meeting. · Maintain the safety and upkeep of ropes courses. · Schedule ropes course events for counselors. · In charge of SOS in conjunction with Directors. · Responsible for all equipment – cookout unit boxes, cookout sites, Dutch ovens, ropes, rappelling, zipline, overnighter, costumes, weekly decorations, Legend Ceremony supplies, etc. · Assign extra staff (SOS, kitchen, craft, etc.) to cookouts, hikes, and rope events. · Ensure all activities have sufficient extra staff help. · Overnighter instruction and carry out · Prepare all supplies needed for Legend Ceremony. · Prepare all supplies as needed for the Brownie Hike. · Help with maintenance projects as needed by maintenance couple and Executive Committee. · Encourage proper use of camp setting, trails, cookout sites, etc. COUNSELOR: · Report to Directors for immediate supervision. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Coordinate your unit program with the outlined program of camp. · Provide the most effective program for your unit rather than the easiest for yourself. · Be in camp and on the job at ALL times. · Set a proper example and standard of etiquette, respect, professionalism, spirituality, and fun for the girls in your unit and those in camp. · Get to know each girl in your unit and help her gain the most from her stay at Brighton. · Think of your girls’ individual needs and act accordingly. · Report problems to the Directors and work under their direction towards a solution. · Carry out special assignments as given by the Directors and/or Presidency/ Executive Committee HEAD CRAFT: · Report to Directors for immediate supervision. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Work with Presidency/Executive Committee in purchasing all materials needed in the Craft Shack. · Attend weekly Camp Council meeting. · Maintain an adequate inventory of craft materials at all times. · Oversee and implement the craft program with help from Assistant Craft. · Keep the Craft Shack and all craft equipment in good working order. · Develop craft ideas that will help supplement the camp program. · Help campers be creative. · Sell at all designated selling times. · Keep record cards for every staff member that charges items and make sure this money is collected by the last day of camp. · Collect money made in craft each week and keep it counted and totaled. Turn it into Executive Committee at designated times. · Assist SOS in activities such as cookouts, hikes, ropes, etc. as necessary. ASSISTANT CRAFT: · Responsible to Head Craft for immediate craft supervision. Report to Directors as a member of the staff. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Work with Head Craft in implementing the craft program. Assist Head Craft in all her designated duties. · Perform SOS duties as necessary. MAINTENANCE COUPLE: · Report to Presidency/Executive Committee for maintenance issues. See Directors for immediate staff supervision. · Attend weekly Camp Council meeting. · Repair minor troubles. Report major troubles to Executive Committee and work under their direction to solve them. · Assist with heavy lifting in the kitchen and throughout camp. · Undertake any assigned projects to make camp area safer, more attractive, and to improve camp facilities. · Must stay in camp on the weekends to ensure safety and help with Weekend Groups. Discuss any weekend time-off with Executive Committee. Will be allowed one day off during the week, this should be arranged with the Directors. · Undertake measures to maintain privacy of the camp and to escort uninvited guests from the premises. · Assist with garbage runs and luggage. · Order needed supplies for Kapers in conjunction with the kitchen. Periodically check Kaper and TNT supplies. Keep other supplies such as light bulbs and mouse control on hand. ??????????? · Paricipate actively in keeping rodents and other animals away from buildings. (Hanta Virus prevention.) · Keep the Tool Room and Mall areas tidy. Make sure tools are always put away. · Laundry duties to include cleaning clothes, maintaining TNT and Kaper supplies, towel care, etc. · Follow all requirements of the Forest Service. · Any other assigned projects as designated by Directors and/or Executive Committee. | FIRST AID SPECIALIST:
· Report to Directors for immediate supervision. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Help Executive Committee restock first aid kits and first aid supplies at the beginning of camp season. · Help train staff in first aid skills and use of the first aid kits. · Keep record of assigned first aid kits to staff. Help check out first aid kits as well as check them in. · Attend weekly Camp Council meeting. · Maintain adequate first aid supplies at all times. · Keep sick room sanitary by washing linens, having beds tidy, keeping supplies organized, etc. · Design and carry out the medical procedures for camp season. · Perform SOS duties as necessary. HEAD COOK: · Report to Executive Committee for foodservice issues. See Directors for immediate staff supervision. · See that all KD’s have a Food Handler’s permit by precamp week. · Work closely with the Executive Committee in determining original inventory for the season and for providing inventory of food and equipment at the end of the season. · Receive proper training on the knowledge of equipment, kitchen service, and food ordering from Executive Committee. · Attend weekly Camp Council meeting. · Preparation of all foods. Must also be aware of camper and staff needs relating to food. (Special food needs, allergies, etc.) · Order all food and kitchen supplies during the camp season while staying within the budget set by Executive Committee. · Plan menus, serve food, and assist with cookout food as requested. · Supervise the kitchen work of the KD’s. · Serve as advisor for all kitchen staff. This includes holding kitchen staff devotionals, morning prayers, and kitchen staff family home evenings. · Prepare additional food for special occasions as directed by the Directors and/or Executive Committee. · Contact parents of those campers with food allergies the Friday before. · Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and other food areas. · Report any problems to the Directors/Executive Committee and work under their direction toward a solution. ASSISTANT COOK: · Responsible to Head Cook for immediate kitchen supervision. Report to Directors as a member of the staff. · Work under direction of Head Cook and assist her in all designated duties. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Be chief authority over kitchen in the Head Cook’s absence. · Kitchen laundry. KITCHEN DEBS (KD’s): · Responsible to Head Cook for immediate kitchen supervision. Report to Directors as a member of the staff. · Prepare for camp by attending workshops, studying assigned materials, getting to know the staff, and practicing camp activities (ex. Dutch oven cooking). · Follow all food preparation rules and regulations. · Assist in meal preparation as directed. · Responsible for all clean-up after meals in both the Kitchen and food service areas of the Dining Hall. · Clean the kitchen, equipment, food storage areas, and other areas as directed by Cooks. · Be available and prompt for assigned kitchen duties unless excused by the Head Cook. · Must hold down your share of work assignments and complete them every day so as not to put an extra work load on the other KD’s. · Accept assignments with the units as arranged by Program Directors. · Any additional assignments as requested by Head Cook/Assistant Cooks/Directors. |
