DIRECTOR

(Must be at least 21 years of age or 2 years post high school;
1 year Brighton employment experience required)


  • Set an example of a righteous Latter-day Saint in dress, speech, action, spirituality and fun at all times.
  • Be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Assist in interviewing potential staff members with the Brighton Presidency.
  • Attend Directorship training meetings in January and other designated times.
  • Work directly with the Brighton Presidency in planning workshops and pre-camp during winter and spring.
  • Prepare and train staff members through workshops and trainings.
  • Obtain a Utah Food Handlers Permit at own expense by pre-camp.
  • Participate in camp opening; fulfill assignments to get camp ready for campers.
  • Work with and follow the Camp President's counsel and direction before and during camp.
  • Conduct weekly Camp Leadership meetings during camp.
  • Attend and be on time for weekly Staff Meeting on Sunday evenings.
  • Assist council members with maintaining adequate records—camper information, camp history, etc.
  • Accept and carry out other duties as requested by the Brighton Council.
  • Keep the President and appropriate council members apprised of any problems with camp programs or camper activities, health issues or behaviors.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate council members and Head Cook for Family Night, Brighton Banquet, and Christmas Week.
  • Lead the staff in camp activities and programs, including Sunrise Hike, as assigned.
  • Help mentor all staff by being a positive and supportive role model.
  • Submit mid-season personal evaluation.
  • Work with appropriate council members to coordinate and direct the staff during Christmas Eve/Day and move-out activities.
  • Help clean and get camp ready for winter; help deliver Dutch ovens, kits, to the storage unit.
  • In addition to housing and meals during the camp week, earn $4,200 paid throughout the camp season.
