Comments for the Legacy Book 12/02/2011
"At Brighton, it is not only easy to teach the truth, but it is as if the spirit is a constant companion. I watch the campers and the staff progress here in a remarkably accelerated way. I see the effect of the spirit in their lives, and as I watch them return to “real Life” I see the strength and testimony they bring into the lives of others. This is a remarkable and endeared camp. It has changed lives forever. It is a true diadem of our Heavenly Fathers eternal creation, a missionary tool, and a Bastian of His spirit. I remain changed by His spirit here forever." - Authur Clark “Maverick” "I have directed and participated in the camps for the church in many varied areas since I worked at Brighton. I have seen great blessings in these events, Brighton was my training ground. AS campers, staff members, thousands and thousands of strong women of faith has spread across the world over the years and continues to be called as camp directors and participants since. As I have moved about and travelled around, I am constantly amazed how far reaching Brighton Girls Camp is. I am constantly running into strong LDS women who perk up if Brighton is mentioned and they say “I was a camper there! “ or “I worked at Brighton Camp” followed by comments like “It changed my life,” to “My spiritual life began there. I first felt the spirit when I went to Brighton.” - Midge "I am who I am thanks to Brighton Camp. Being a counselor was one of the best preparations I had fro serving a mission. I learned to serve others until I was exhausted. I learned to love unconditionally. I learned how to teach the simple concepts of the gospel… Years ago, I never would have been able to imagine I would have the skills to lead this camp. The leadership skills I’ve gained have been valuable not only on my mission, but in preparing me to enter MBA school at BYU this fall." - Dickens "There is much joy and rejoicing in the gospel among the beautiful mountaintops of the Lord. I have watched shy campers learn to come out of their shells and find friends and love. I have watched campers who have thought only about themselves, learn to reach out to others and include them in their laughter and fun. I have seen campers learn to love one another and I have seen seeds be planted and testimonies strengthened." - Horizon "During one week in the summer of 1967, the direction of my confused, unsure 12 year old heart was altered forever. I was literally brought out of a fog – to life – to feeling the spirit for the first time. ..The very mountains seem to put their arms around tender young hearts and hold them close to comfort. The pines and aspen seem to breathe peace to souls, and prayer comes easily to those unschooled in the practice." – ZIM CommentsKetchup-04,05,08,10 03/15/2012 07:37
